About Funk House Backpackers

Located in the heart and soul of Sydney, the Funk House is a unique, upbeat hostel famous for its friendly social atmosphere and funky murals. With only 3-4 beds per dorm you can book a room with your mates.

All our doubles and twins have TVs, fridges, fans and doonas. All dorm rooms have fans. The Funk House also has large common areas, TV room with cable and a great tranquill rooftop garden area with weekly BBQs so you can relax and sink a couple of beers while watching the sunset.

Because of our location you can walk to all of Sydney`s magic spots including the Opera house, Sydney Harbour, Botanical gardens, the Rocks, Sydney tower, Darling Harbour and the weekend markets.

The train and bus stop are 100 metres from our doorstep giving you easy access to Sydney`s best beaches. Take the challenge and learn to surf or just kick back and catch some rays.

If it`s nightlife you`re after then no problem. Kings Cross` best pubs and clubs are a one minute walk away with many of them offering our guests FREE beer vouchers.

Things To Do

We have an inhouse "entertainment manager" who organises a full week of activities for all our guests. Most nights we have FREE drinks at various bars. If that is not your thing we play soccer matches with other hostels, pool competitions, quizzes and don`t forget our famous weekly BBQ!

There are heaps of free activities available in Sydney and all are within minutes of the hostel, here are just a few examples:

How To get There

From the airport we will arrange a pick up for you:

* When your flight lands and you have your bags, call us on 1800 247 600.

* We will direct you to the meeting point for the shuttle bus.

* On arrival at the Funkhouse you will have to pay $3 to reception for the transfer.

From Central station you should use the train to get to us -it is the fastest way!!: * Get a ticket for Kings Cross = $2.20 * Go to platform 24 to take the train * Get off the train at KINGS CROSS station, it's the 3rd stop and takes only nine minutes * When you exit the train station, turn left. We are 50 metres along the road on the left hand side.
