A Taste of Broome

A Taste of Broome is a unique multi-arts performance and cuisine experience created around the distinctive Indigenous culture within Broome's multicultural community. Promoting the vibrant soul that is the essence of Broome's identity, this ticket only event showcases music, media, dance, food, arts and crafts, tradition and heritage. A monthly event over the Dry season, visitors should experience the food and culture that has made Broome an iconic destination. The Indigenous dance and musical elements will have people raving about a Taste of Broome. In 2013 A Taste of Broome events will be held on Fridays 10 May, 7 June, 5 July, 9 August and 6 September.

Broome Marathon Festival

The Broome Marathon Festival is held on Cable Beach near Broome in Western Australia. The festival includes a variety of races including the 11.3 kilometre Matso's Dash, the 19.6 kilometre Life and Soul Run or the full 42.2 kilometre LJ Hooker Broome Marathon. Low tide ensures hard packed sand for this beach running festival. Come and run on one of the most amazing beaches in Australia, in perfect 'Dry Season' conditions.

Cable Sounds - featuring Icehouse

Get ready for the Broome concert event of 2013 this June, when Australian music legends Icehouse bring their awe-inspiring audiovisual show and catalogue of hits to the magnificent Cable Beach Amphitheatre. Tickets to the concert will also get you free entry into the opening of the Broome Race Season on the Saturday. Also starring local heroes The Steve Pigram Quartet and Desert Child, the event will help celebrate the opening weekend of the Broome Racing Carnival. Country Cups - Opening to the Broome Race Season

When thinking of escaping the winter blues to enjoy Broome's sunshine, make sure you plan to visit during the Broome's nine week Racing season and experience unique competitive racing just a stone's throw from Broome's famous Cable Beach. Broome's 2013 racing season runs from June until mid August. Be sure to book your holiday over one of Broome's famous race days with the season opening on Saturday, 1 June 2013 to feature a concert at the open air Cable Beach Amphitheatre the night before the races. The Woodside Cup on Friday, 26 July 2013 and the Kimberley Cup on Saturday, 3 August 2013 are further opportunities to experience thrilling Broome racing. Book early if planning to attend the Broome Cup Carnival, which begins with Ladies Day on Tuesday, 13 August 2013 and culminates with the biggest event on the Broome Racing Calendar, the Broome Cup on Saturday, 17 August 2013.

Staircase to the Moon

Witness a breathtaking natural phenomenon known as the Staircase to the Moon. It is caused by the rising of the full moon reflecting off the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide - creating a beautiful optical illusion of stairs reaching to the moon. It occurs along the coastline at Onslow, Dampier, Point Samson Peninsula, Hearson Cove, Port Hedland and Broome. The Staircase to the Moon in Broome is often complemented by local night markets at Town Beach. Here you can sample local fare, purchase crafts and delight in talented local entertainers.
